New Canaan Baseball dates back to 1954 when some dedicated baseball volunteers in town decided to charter the organization with the Babe Ruth League, Inc.  The Babe Ruth League had begun play in New Jersey in 1951 as a 10-team league serving boys aged 13-15.  It quickly grew in popularity and began to serve other age groups.  In 1982 the Bambino Division was added serving players ages 4-12.  That division was renamed the Cal Ripken Division in 1999 and today the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken organization serves over 1 million players.

New Canaan Baseball has always had a group of hard-working volunteers who would tirelessly devote their time towards growing the game of baseball in town. Whether it was teaching baseball skills, raking out wet fields or raising funds for large capital projects like field renovations or the Lodge at Mead Park (today’s Apple Cart), we owe a debt of gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers who helped build New Canaan Baseball.  We stand today as one of the top youth baseball organizations in the state of Connecticut and we are very proud of that heritage.
